How do I sponsor a child?
There are two ways you can pick a child to sponsor
- Click “Children need Sponsor’’, and select a needy child to help.

How much does a sponsorship cost?
We categorize our sponsorship program to meet specific needs of the children, as well as the sponsor’s pocket.
The monthly contribution for a sponsored child lies between 35$ and 180$ (USD) per month.
It depends:
- Whether the child currently attends Nursery, Primary, Secondary School or Vocational Training School or is studying in University.
- In which area the school is (in/close to big towns schools are usually more expensive than on the countryside).
- Whether the child is in boarding section or day section.
- On individual needs/support, which get checked by our staff members in Uganda (e.g. if the vulnerability of a child/ youth is so big that we also have to provide the school requirements for lessons or for boarding section.)
- It is also possible to take on a shared sponsorship. Hereby more sponsors can support one child/ youth together, they share the costs according to the amount that is possible for each one.
The personal letter contact with the child is still individually, if the sponsored children know the names of their sponsors and their family members, who are in contact with the sponsored child. The names can be given to us. Otherwise the letter goes to “all” sharing sponsors.
How much of my sponsorship money reaches the child?
Your sponsorship donation is pooled with other sponsors for maximum impact to fund programs that benefit your sponsored child and their community. When you sponsor a child, you get to watch the impact of your donation on your child, their family, and their entire community, celebrating with them along the way.
How is the child getting on in school?
Our co-workers in Uganda regularly visit schools and inquire about the children’s progress. Sometimes they receive a report card and a recent photograph of the child, which we forward to the sponsor. If a child is progressing from primary (after completing P7) to secondary school or starting vocational training we inform the sponsor and ask whether the sponsor is still prepared to support the child or not. After completing S 4 (approximately equal to sophomore/G.C.S.E. level) children with high marks are encouraged to proceed to S6 (high school diploma/A levels). The rest of the students are encouraged to start vocational training.
How do I pay?
Contact us. You may make the sponsorship payment Monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Upon receiving your donation, we usually send an official acknowledgement receipt for every contribution made.
How do I communicate with my child?
The cheapest and effective way of communicating with your child is by mailing letters to each other. Most of our children live in the very rural with no access to internet. You can exchange letters, pictures, drawings etc. on regular basis, and Kalibville Cooperative Community staff will assist your child in responding to your letters. Sponsors do use the address at the bottom of this page because many families do not have postal address, and the letters are hand-delivered by our staff.
What do I get when I sponsor a child?
- Expect to receive a letter, a photo of the child you sponsor at-least twice a year.
- Prayer partnership with a child
- A yearly updated picture and letters
Can I send material gifts to my child?
Not at all! While it may seem like a good idea with the best of heart-felt intentions, sending material gifts not only get lost on the way here, but attract huge taxes & duties that sometimes exceed the cost of the gift. Besides your regular sponsorship contribution, you may send monetary gift to your sponsored child to commemorate special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, performance merit etc to purchase a specific gift locally.
How are children chosen for Kalibville Cooperative Community?
Kalibville Cooperative Community always has children waiting for sponsorship that have been referred to us by retired social workers, teachers, nurses and religious authorities, including those from other religious denominations, such as Muslim and Catholic denomination leaders. Kalibville Cooperative Community gives priority to children in greatest need, or sponsors can choose a child with preference to age, gender or background.
Can I visit my sponsored child?
Yes. We encourage you to visit your child, an experience that will certainly be life changing for you and your sponsored child! Kalibville Cooperative Community offers short-term volunteer programs which would allow you to visit and spend time with your sponsored child, for more information please check on the site “volunteer” page.
How do I know if my sponsorship money is being used as intended?
All our dealings are conducted with lot of transparency, honesty and accountability. We have needs “supply and distribution” form that we use to deliver goods and services to our sponsored children. Each time a child collects an item or receive any form of service such as healthcare that requires money, scholastic materials, personal use, the child or his/her guardian has to put a signature. This form clearly states the sponsorship goals and what Kalibville Cooperative Community hope to offer entire year of engagement and a copy is mailed to sponsors at the beginning of the year and another copy at the end of the year indicating the achievements. Also, our financial books are always open and the auditor is welcome at any time.
Can I support Kalibville Cooperative Community. without taking a sponsorship for a child?
Of course you can help support all projects with your donations, without taking on a sponsorship. We are grateful for every contribution to maintain our construction work and cover our daily expenditures. We would be very grateful if you could introduce our work to your friends and co-workers. How long does a child sponsorship last?
The length of sponsorship will be different for each child dependent on a number of factors: child’s age, family circumstances, health of a child, progress of a child, and so on. Please understand that a sponsored child’s circumstances may change too. For example, sometimes families move beyond the reach of our program. We will inform you as quickly as possible if any such circumstances affect the child you sponsor, and will offer you the opportunity to support another child in need of your help.
What if I need to discontinue my child sponsorship?
You can discontinue your Child Sponsorship at any time by notifying us via email or phone. Once we are notified, we begin the process of finding a new sponsor so that the child’s support can continue. The more lead time we receive on the discontinuation, the easier it will be to find a new sponsor and continue support without interruption. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Why are there differences in school fees?
Some schools fees are higher because children either study in a day school, where sometimes lunch is provided, or a boarding school, where they have their lessons and full board and lodging. Many children are placed in boarding schools because their parents or guardians are so poor that they hardly can afford meals, let alone bedding or school fees. Some schools offer special subjects such as chemistry or biology that require lab equipment.
Besides some schools are supported by the government and therefore cheaper than others which are private schools.
Even the students level can make a big difference in the school fees. Kindergarten and Primary School are of course cheaper than Secondary School, High School or even University.
